This committee reviews the Chapter’s accounting records for the previous fiscal year to ensure expenses and deposits are supported and allocated to the budget appropriately.
The Parliamentarian advises the board on operating procedures, keeps record of Chapter Bylaws and Standing Rules, updates Regional and National Chairs as needed, and addresses any procedural deficiencies. Must be present at all meetings.
NEF: NAWIC EDUCATION FOUNDATION (BLOCK KIDS)
Committee chairs implement the K-12 programs designed by NEF: Block Kids (K-6), Middle School Accessory Project (7-8), and CAD/Drafting Contest (9-12.) Our Chapter focuses solely on Block Kids, which typically takes place during the first quarter.
Orchestrate community service events for the Chapter quarterly, typically.
Create Eventbrite Events for tracking registrations and special accommodations for meetings and events as needed. Send out announcements and invitations. Update website.
Recognize member birthdays, send condolences and congratulations, etc.
All members are a part of this committee! Committee Chairs are responsible for promoting the Chapter, facilitating relationships with potential members, developing and pursuing new member leads, assisting with Membership Applications, and orchestrating new member installations. Send “Welcome” packets, announce member anniversaries at meetings, hold an annual new member orientation, and mentor new members. Hospitality, a sub-committee of membership, should coordinate the meeting venue including registered attendees, menu, special needs, etc. Must welcome and check in attendees. Generate final list of attendees for Board.
PD&E: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION
Identify and secure speakers and/or program for monthly General Meetings including any AV needs. Send event details to the Communications Committee prior to the event. Introduce Speaker. Initiate and promote the educational programs offered by the National Education Foundation (NEF) and provide assistance to those members participating in certification courses. Report to Regional Chair. Assist Chapter VP with NEF raffles.
Prepare press releases for notable Chapter events to be published locally and provide reports to Regional/National Chair on a quarterly basis. Responsible for managing and maintaining various Chapter Social Media platforms.
Supply articles to Communications Committee to keep members abreast of current safety/health issues. Distribute annual safety awards applications to membership and select a Chapter winner to submit to the Regional Chair. May work with PDE Chair for monthly program topics.
Review guidelines and make recommendations to the Board if changes are needed. Advertise scholarship opportunity, distribute application and guidelines to area schools/community groups, and assist with application process as needed. Present applications to the Board for a vote, notifies the recipients, and organizes the Recognition Ceremony in August.
WAYS & MEANS
Oversees and coordinates events or fundraisers. Solicit volunteers and delegate tasks.
Plan and coordinate events for Women in Construction (WIC) Week. Obtain proclamation from Mayor, report activities to Regional and National Chairs, and collaborate with PR/Marketing Chair to promote events.
